A Phlebotomist is skilled in the process of drawing blood from patients. This routine yet critical process requires accuracy, empathy and efficiency to put patients at ease and avoid vein collapse, infection and other complications. As such, these essential professionals are always in demand on health care team. They can be found working in a range of medical settings from blood donation banks to private practice doctor offices. In addition to withdrawing blood, Phlebotomist work with doctors and lab technicians to ensure the right types of analysis are performed on blood samples so that doctors receive the information they require and patients can be properly diagnosed.
