A Certified Nurse Assistant works closely with Nurses and is involved in every stage of a patient’s journey to recovery. A Certified Nurse Assistant assists with tasks ranging from responding to calls and monitoring vital signs to providing direct care (e.g. toileting, bathing, feeding) and tracking patient progress.  Certified Nurse Assistants work in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation and hospice centers. CNAs are key members of the health care team serving as “first responder” to address patient needs. They have deep knowledge of their patients and often the first to notice physical, mental or emotional changes. Their early observations are often the key to detecting new medical issues, adjusting treatment programs to provide the best patient care.
